The best trainer styles for 2025, according to fashion experts, from just £15

STRUGGLING to find your next pair of trainers?

Look no further, as the Fabulous fashion team have scoured the high street to bring you the best offerings – for as little as £15.

From super on-trend “sneakerinas” that are a mix of trainers and a ballet shoe, to the latest prints and fabrics plus classic trainers that will stand the test of time, there really is something for everyone and every budget.

While some may like to splash the cash and love a branded shoe, the high street has also upped its trainer game to create stylish options for a fraction of the price.

Take a look below to see which ones might put a spring in your step.

Tracey, 53, Fashion Director – Sneakerinas

My favourite new trainer trend this season is sneakerinas – a sneaker and ballerina flat hybrid.

Searches for “ballet sneakers” on StockX are up over 1,000% and it’s no wonder.

Comfy, cute and already endorsed by Bella Hadid, who has been snapped several times in Vivaia’s Cristina sneakerinas, this is undoubtedly the trainer of the summer – and you can stick them in the washing machine!

I feel there is a pair of sneakerinas for everyone, from the cute Free People ribbon-laced pair my 20-something daughter would love, to the slick satin Alohas that I have on pre-order, which will be perfect styled with a summer suit.

Clemmie Fieldsend, 34, Fashion Editor – Neutrals

I’m going to sound old, but I can’t keep up with trainer styles.

They fly in and out of fashion, and in some cases, they’re a big investment – so if I’m spending a lot of cash on shoes, I want to know I’ll get a lot of wear out of them.

Luckily, one of the key trends for spring/summer is neutral trainers that are logo-less and fuss-free, meaning whether you get them for £15 or £139, they’ll look as good as each other (and no one will know if they’re designer or not!).

This plimsoll style from Primark features monochrome laces, and they’re so comfortable, plus look really stylish with black trousers or denim.

If you do want a bit of colour, this pair from Stradivarius with leopard on the heel is a safe way to go, or the M&S Onitsuka Tiger dupe – saving you £100 – are also fab with their black detailing.

If white isn’t your style, New Look’s multi-beige trainers are a bargain pair that look expensive.

Abby McHale, 30, Deputy Fashion Editor – Suede

I’m a sucker for a good trainer, and I love hopping on the bandwagon of whatever is deemed cool for the season.

And it seems, right now, suede trainers are a hot commodity.

Luckily for me, lots of trainers are brushed with suede, so there is plenty of choice to be had.

Whether you want to stick to more neutral shades like these offerings from Parfois, Gola and Nike, or go for something with more colour like these Adidas and Alohas styles, pretty much every trainer brand has something in suede.

It may not be the best of fabrics to wear during the rainy season, but with suede protector on top and the promise of brighter weather, this is the perfect time to slip into suede.

Emily Regan, 25, Fashion Assistant – Animal Print

As much as I love a classic white trainer, I’ve been stepping into bolder, printed styles lately.

Adidas kicked things off with its ASOS-exclusive cow-print Sambas, which sold out in minutes, and the trend’s going strong into spring.

Now, Adidas has teamed up with Liberty for a collection featuring heritage iconic floral prints – while some styles are pretty bold, this more subtle cream pair is already flying off the shelves.

If you’re not ready to splurge on cow print, the high street has a great selection of budget-friendly options, like this pair from River Island.

If you’d prefer to stick to something a little safer, leopard print is a timeless go-to that will go with every outfit.

I’ve got my eye on this Sam Edelman pair – the contrast stitching and Velcro are a win for me.

This snake-print pair from Desigual are a bold choice, but look incredibly premium, and I love the touch of pink for spring.

Or if you’re on the hunt for an everyday trainer, this check pair of slip-on Vans would look great with everything from denim to day-dresses.

Top Tips for Cleaning White Trainers

  • A small amount of baking soda mixed with the laundry detergent can help brighten your trainers
  • If your kickers have stubborn stains or are particularly dirty, you might need to repeat the cleaning process
  • To maintain their shape while drying, stuff the trainers with newspaper or kitchen roll
