Polls closed: Bay Area News Group boys athlete of the week

Welcome to the Bay Area News Group (Mercury News & East Bay Times) boys Athlete of the Week poll.
For the entire academic year, we will provide a list of candidates who stood out over the previous week and allow you, the reader, to vote for the winner.
This week, we consider performances from April 7-12.
Polls close at 5 p.m. Wednesday.
Vote as many times as you’d like until then without using bots or any other artificial methods of voting.
Votes by email and after 5 p.m. Wednesday are not counted.

Winners are announced each Friday online and in the print edition of the Mercury News and East Bay Times sports sections.
Candidates for future Athlete of the Week polls can be nominated at highschools@bayareanewsgroup.com.
We accept nominations until 11 a.m. each Monday.
We also review stats submitted to MaxPreps by coaches/team statisticians.
On to the nominees:
Nate Bateman, Bellarmine baseball: The senior was 3 for 7 with a home run and three RBIs across three games. Bellarmine is 10-8 this season.
Mario Fausto, Sequoia baseball: Fausto’s walk-off double lifted Sequoia to a 10-9 victory over The King’s Academy. Sequoia (8-6) hosts Hillsdale on Wednesday.
Kaiden Gonzales, Gilroy track and field: Gonzales took first place in the shot put at the 34th Bill Kearney Invitational with a throw that went 54-06.00.
Cooper Han, Menlo School tennis: Han, a senior, compiled three individual wins in straight sets against Priory, Sacred Heart Prep and Granite Bay at No. 1 singles, leading the Knights to team wins in all three matchups.
Preston Huang, Mountain View baseball: Huang, a sophomore, threw a complete game shutout in Mountain View’s 4-0 win over Aragon. Mountain View (10-5) is slated to host Homestead on Friday.
Diego Laredo, Amador Valley track and field: The junior crossed the finish line in 10:35.02 to take first place in the 3,200 race at the Amador Valley Spring Fling.
Jordan Medina, James Logan baseball: Medina was 3 for 6 and totaled four RBIs, three runs and four stolen bases across two games against Newark Memorial. James Logan six of its last seven games.
Brendan Moddelmog, Dublin baseball: The senior had two hits and knocked in two runs in Dublin’s 7-3 win over Alhambra. Dublin is 14-2 this season.
Jackson Murphy, Las Lomas baseball: Murphy had two extra-base hits, three RBIs and was walked twice in Las Lomas’ 6-3 win over Archie Williams. Las Lomas is 5-6-1 this season.
Colton Vick, Freedom baseball: Vick had a bases-clearing triple in Freedom’s 7-2 win over Tesoro. Freedom is 7-6 and will host Pittsburg on Tuesday.
Kyle Welch, The King’s Academy track and field: Welch took first place in the 100-meter race at the West Bay Athletic League meet.
