Chris Evans Gushed About 'Older Sister' Scarlett Johansson & We’re Loving This Co-Star Friendship
Chris Evans and Scarlett Johansson have been co-stars multiple times. Both in major Marvel movies like The Avengers and in smaller movies at the beginning of their careers, like The Perfect Score and The Nanny Diaries, these two have built quite a filmography together. So, of course, it’s no surprise they’ve developed a sweet friendship too.
On April 16, Evans showed their bond off in a tribute to Johansson as she was named one of Time Magazine‘s Most Influential People of 2025.
In the short tribute, Evans started by saying Johansson is more than a friend, she’s more like a sibling to him instead. “Despite her being three years younger than me, I’ve always considered Scarlett Johansson my older sister,” the Red One star wrote.
“We met in 2002 while filming The Perfect Score in Vancouver. Even at 17, she had wisdom, talent, and grit beyond her years,” Evans recalled. “I quickly revered her as any younger sibling would, with equal parts admiration and intimidation.”
Luckily, Evans’ admiration for Johansson started right before the rest of the world began to take note, too.
“After wrapping the film, she started work on a little movie called Lost in Translation, and the rest was history,” he said of the 2003 Sofia Coppola-directed classic. “Since then, I’ve watched her craft a career entirely her own, seamlessly transitioning between independent and mainstream films, refusing to be boxed into any one genre or type, and cementing her legacy as one of the most versatile, influential, and bankable actors of her generation.”
“A pioneer, a rebel, a force, an artist without limits and, most important, without fear,” he stated.
“Scarlett is always unafraid,” Evans continued of Johansson. “Unafraid to be vulnerable. Unafraid to take risks. Unafraid to be herself. Even unafraid to chase dinosaurs.” If you didn’t catch that last reference, Johansson’s upcoming movie is Jurassic World: Rebirth, where she’s, quite literally, chasing dinosaurs.
“She’s a living testament to the power of fearlessness in art,” Evans wrote. “That’s why even though I’m older, I learn from her, I lean on her, and I look up to her. And as any ‘younger’ sibling would assert, there’s absolutely nothing she can’t do.”
We might not be Johansson reading this, but we’re surely blushing at how sweet Evans’ message is to her. A younger brother we’d all love to have, right?
