Woman accused of killing mom, 2 kids in Brooklyn crash expected in court
BROOKLYN, N.Y. (PIX11) – The woman accused of killing a mother and her two children in a Brooklyn car crash is expected to appear in court on Wednesday.
The NYPD said 32-year-old Miriam Yarimi allegedly sped down Ocean Parkway on March 28 in her blue Audi SUV, slamming into an Uber car. She then lost control of her car and crashed into 34-year-old Natasha Saada and her three children while they were in the crosswalk, according to authorities.
Police said Saada and her two daughters died in the crash. Saada’s 4-year-old son was taken to a local hospital in critical condition, according to authorities.
Yarimi was charged with manslaughter and criminally negligent homicide in connection with the crash. She was driving with a suspended license at the time, according to authorities.
Her driving record showed more than $11,000 in fines, 99 violations and 20 speeding tickets.
The crash has people calling for change. New York State Sen. Andrew Gounardes introduced a bill that would allow authorities to install speed-limiting devices in cars owned by drivers who get six or more tickets in a year.
Yarimi is expected to be physically in court for her arraignment. She was hospitalized following the crash, according to authorities.
