Man Utd could sign £26m striker in Hojlund swap deal, Club chief planning offer - report
Juventus sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli could negotiate a part-exchange deal with Manchester United this summer, according to Calciomercato.
The Red Devils are preparing for a busy summer transfer window. A marquee centre-forward could be one of the top priorities for manager Ruben Amorim.
Juventus’ Dusan Vlahovic has been linked for a while, and Calciomercato claim that Giuntoli could offer the Serbian to the Red Devils at the end of the season.
The Bianconeri chief has his sights on signing either Newcastle United’s Sandro Tonali or United’s Rasmus Hojlund. The latter is under ‘special observation’.
Hojlund is reportedly valued higher than Vlahovic, whose contract expires in June next year.
Juventus rate Vlahovic at around £26 million and could include him as a makeweight to purchase Hojlund from United during the summer transfer window.
Vlahovic won’t be an upgrade on Hojlund
Hojlund has endured a tough campaign with the Red Devils with just eight goals thus far.
The Danish star has had limited service, which has not helped his situation. He has missed just four big chances in the league.
Vlahovic has fared better with 14 goals for the Bianconeri, but the Serbian has been guilty of squandering 14 big chances in Serie A.
In our view, the 25-year-old won’t be an upgrade on Hojlund. He is poor in contesting ground and aerial duels, similar to the Dane.
The former Fiorentina man has also been guilty of losing regular possession upfront. United need a better solution as a number nine.
If United are eyeing a swap deal, they should include Hojlund as a makeweight to land Napoli star Victor Osimhen this summer.
The Nigerian ace has netted 29 goals on loan at Galatasaray. He is valued at £56m and could be signed for significantly less with Hojlund moving the other way.
It would be a win-win situation for both clubs. Osimhen could finally get the opportunity to secure a dream move to the English top flight.
Hojlund could fare better in Serie A, where the games are less intense and more tactical. He previously showed plenty of promise at Atalanta.
