Dominican man allegedly assaulted ICE agent during removal in NJ: Court records
NEWARK, N.J. PIX11) — A man from the Dominican Republic was arrested for allegedly assaulting a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent.
The United States Attorney District of New Jersey announced on Tuesday.
Officials say that on March 2025, 39-year-old Darlin Leon was in ICE custody in Newark while pending removal from the United States. While he was being processed for removal, Leon struck the victim in the head with a closed fist at least four times, according to court documents.
The ICE agent sustained lacerations and abrasions to the back of his head, officials said.
Leon was then arrested and later charged with one count of assualting a federal officer, according to court documents.
If convicted, Leon faces up to 20 years in prison and a fine of $250,000.
