Schenectady man accused of taking intimate videos without consent
ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- A Schenectady man was arraigned in Albany on Tuesday for allegedly taking intimate photos and videos of another person without their knowledge, the Albany County District Attorney's Office said. Joseph Munafo, 61, faces several counts of unlawful surveillance.
According to police, Munafo allegedly took photos and videos of the intimate body parts of an acquaintance. The act took place over several days from July 2023 to October 2023 without the victim's knowledge, and occurred in multiple locations in Albany and Colonie, authorities said.
The victim eventually caught Munafo recording video and reported the incident to the Colonie Police Department, according to officials. The suspect was arrested in January 2024 after he turned himself in, police said.
The 61-year-old was arraigned in Albany County Court and was charged with 11 counts of second-degree unlawful surveillance, the DA's Office said. He is reportedly due back in court on May 16 and, if found guilty, could face from 10 to 20 years in state prison.
