Why Rory McIlroy will be confident of adding to Masters Grand Slam glory at US PGA Championship in May
RORY MCILROY has been installed as the favourite for next month’s USPGA Championship.
The County Down ace is fresh-off his Masters playoff victory over Justin Rose which saw him join Gene Sarazen, Ben Hogan, Gary Player, Jack Nicklaus, and Tiger Woods as the only players to have ever won all four majors.
And now he’ll be looking ahead to next month’s championship after he ended his 10-year wait for a fifth major title.
The 2025 PGA Championship is scheduled to take place from May 15–18 at Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, North Carolina – a course McIlroy knows all too well.
Holywood hotsot McIlroy has turned Quail Hollow Club into his personal playground.
He’s racked up four PGA Tour victories at the Charlotte venue – more than any other course in his career.
His first win came in 2010, when he shot a stunning final-round 62 to claim his maiden PGA Tour title at just 20 years old.
The world number two returned in 2015 to dominate the Wells Fargo Championship, setting a course-record 61 en route to a seven-shot win.
McIlroy added a third title in 2021, edging out the field before making it a quartet of wins with a commanding performance in 2024 where he finished five shots clear in the signature event.
The venue sets the perfect stage for his assault on the 2025 PGA Championship.
