Summer concerts are back on at Forest Hills Stadium amid noise battle
NEW YORK CITY (PIX11) – Forest Hills Stadium’s summer concerts are back on after a legal dispute over noise threatened its shows.
In March, Forest Hills Stadium was denied permits to host its summer concerts amid a legal dispute over noise, according to Queens Chamber of Commerce President Tom Grech.
On Monday, the stadium announced that its summer concert series, which includes Phish and Mumford & Sons, was given the green light.
“As anticipated, we're pleased to announce that the City of New York has given Forest Hills Stadium the green light for our 2025 concert season to proceed as planned,” said representatives of the stadium.
The Forest Hills Gardens Corporation, the group trying to rein in the concerts, had previously denied the NYPD access to control private streets near the stadium, making the concerts impossible, sources told PIX11 News.
“As happens every season, the vocal NIMBY minority of Forest Hills Gardens are attempting to roadblock yet another enjoyable season of music,” a representative of the stadium said in March.
Now, Tiebreaker Productions has agreed to use private security to monitor the private streets, saving the summer shows, according to Queens Borough President Donovan Richards.
