Tragedy as body pulled from lake at popular diving centre hours after man seen ‘entering the water’
A BODY of a man has been pulled from a lake with a popular diving centre just hours after police were alerted to someone entering the water.
Intensive searches took place at Stoney Cove near Stoney Stanton, Leicestershire, following the early morning reports yesterday.
Leicestershire Police said today it eventually discovered a body of a man on Monday afternoon.
While cops said there did not appear to be any crime involved in the death, they would still be investigating in order to prepare a file for the coroner.
Police added they will not be releasing any details about the man’s identity and that an inquest into his death will be held at a later date.
A spokeswoman for the force said today: “Officers received a report at 7.20am yesterday related to concerns for the welfare of a man who may have entered the water at Stoney Cove in Stoney Stanton.
“Following a search, the body of a man was recovered from the water yesterday afternoon.
“The death is not being treated as suspicious, and a file is being prepared for HM Coroner.
“Identification of the deceased will be a matter for the coroner.”
