‘Fab bargain!’ shoppers clear shelves as popular Lindt chocolates sold for £7.50 elsewhere are slashed to £1.24 in Asda
THRIFTY shoppers have been sent into a frenzy after Asda slashed the price of a cult favourite chocolate to just £1.24.
With Easter holiday right around the corner, millions of households have been racing to stock up on chocolates.
And now the mega supermarket Asda has come to rescue with an epic deal, offering its customers posh Lindt chocolate for a little over £1.
Elsewhere, the Lindor Strawberries & Cream chocolate will set you back an eye-watering £7.50 for a 200g box.
However, thrifty Asda shoppers can now snap it up for a mere £1.24, following jaw-dropping price reductions.
This means that those heading to the local branch can save a whopping £6.26 with this deal.
However, it’s worth noting that as the offer has already taken the internet by storm, you may wish to act quick to avoid any disappointment.
Online, these chocolates boast an impressive 4.8-star rating, with customers confessing they ”eat the whole box” in one go.
If you’re keen to get your hands on this treat – which may not be available in all Asda locations – you’ll find the chocolates ”in the reduced stand area”, Facebook users said.
If Strawberries & Cream is not necessarily your go-to, some said the supermarket also had the same offer for Lindor Dark Mint.
One anonymous member of the popular Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK group posted their epic find and mega haul of a whopping ten boxes.
They wrote in the post: ”Lindt strawberries and cream £1.2 in our Asda.
”And bebeto heart sweets £1 400g tub.”
Since being shared online, the news has already racked up over a whopping 270 likes, with close to 40 people flooding to comments to tag their friends and family.
One fellow member of the page said: ”Bargain!! fab, well done enjoy your chocs.”
”Oh my favourite,” chimed in another who was keen to snap up the cut-price goodies.
”Omg I love those!” a third commented.
How to bag a bargain
SUN Savers Editor Lana Clements explains how to find a cut-price item and bag a bargain…
Sign up to loyalty schemes of the brands that you regularly shop with.
Big names regularly offer discounts or special lower prices for members, among other perks.
Sales are when you can pick up a real steal.
Retailers usually have periodic promotions that tie into payday at the end of the month or Bank Holiday weekends, so keep a lookout and shop when these deals are on.
Sign up to mailing lists and you’ll also be first to know of special offers. It can be worth following retailers on social media too.
When buying online, always do a search for money off codes or vouchers that you can use vouchercodes.co.uk and myvouchercodes.co.uk are just two sites that round up promotions by retailer.
Scanner apps are useful to have on your phone. Trolley.co.uk app has a scanner that you can use to compare prices on branded items when out shopping.
Bargain hunters can also use B&M’s scanner in the app to find discounts in-store before staff have marked them out.
And always check if you can get cashback before paying which in effect means you’ll get some of your money back or a discount on the item.
If you need more convincing to head to the nearest Asda, the supermarket giant also recently slashed the price of Celebrations tubs to just £2.99 just in time for Easter weekend.
The sweet deal was first spotted at the Asda store in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, where 550g tubs of Mars Celebrations were flying off the shelves.
Shoppers couldn’t believe their luck, with one writing on social media: “Excellent price, good find.”
Another added: “Bought loads!” while a third said: “I wish they were this price all the time.”
The deal came to light after a savvy customer posted in the Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK Facebook group, revealing that the tub scanned at £2.98 at checkout, even though it wasn’t marked on the shelf.
The shopper also pointed out that they saved an extra penny using ASDA’s rollback pricing.
The discount doesn’t appear to be limited to just one store.
Other bargain hunters reported finding the same offer in ASDA stores across the UK.
