UFC star Marvin Vettori’s brother dies in fire aged 30 as heartbroken fighter vows to ‘one day be buried next to you’
UFC star Marvin Vettori paid a heartbreaking tribute to his brother Patrick – who sadly passed away in a house fire.
Vettori – the UFC’s 10th ranked middleweight – shared a series of pictures alongside his brother while announcing the news of his death.
He wrote: “You were and always will be number 1 my little brother! You left us leaving an unfillable void, I will love you until my last breath.
“I don’t think I’ll be the same after today because maybe I never told you but you’ve always been my strength.
“You were the smartest and smartest of the 2, you were creating a wonderful future for yourself and I can’t get over it.
“It is said that Jesus calls back the most beautiful souls prematurely to have them with him in heaven and then I hope that you are there with him looking and watching over us with that goodness that has always set you apart.
“I love you my brother, and even though it won’t be easy to continue life without you, it gives me heart to know that one day I’ll be buried next to you.”
Italian media TgCom24 reported that a fire broke out in his apartment in Mezzocorona – located in the province of Trento.
Police and firefighters were alerted but arrived on the scene after Patrick passed due to smoke inhalation.
He was 30 years old.
Vettori – one of the UFC’s most popular European fighters – has a record of 19 wins, eight losses and one draw.
He challenged for the middleweight title in 2021 – but was beaten by Israel Adesanya.
Vettori – who trains in Italy and America – has lost his last two bouts.
