Sir Jim Ratcliffe turnover continues as Man United make huge announcement on club director
Jean-Claude Blanc has officially stepped down from his position as a director at Manchester United, the club announced this week.
Blanc will not be leaving the club altogether.
He’d still have an active management role at United but will now serve as the club’s Chief of International Football Relations and Special Adviser to the board.
Blanc joined United’s board last year after Sir Jim Ratcliffe bought a 25% stake in the club.
The 62-year-old was CEO of INEOS Sport when he was appointed director and represented the Red Devils at European Clubs’ Association and Premier League meetings.
Despite taking on a new role, he will continue to represent the Red Devils in dealings with key international bodies such as UEFA and FIFA.
A club statement read (via the Daily Mail): “Jean-Claude Blanc has stepped down from his position as a director of Manchester United Football Club.
“However, he will continue to have an active role in the management of the club in his new position as chief of international football relations and special advisor to the board.”
Blanc brings a wealth of experience to the table. Over the years, he has built a strong reputation in the world of European sport.
Before joining United, he held senior positions at some of the biggest clubs across the continent, including Serie A powerhouse Juventus and French champions Paris Saint-Germain.
He also played a key role in the French sports scene, having served as CEO of the French Tennis Association and helped organise the French Open.
His new responsibilities are expected to focus on strengthening United’s international presence and maintaining strong relationships with global football organisations.
Blanc’s change in fortunes comes at a time when Ratcliffe is employing strict cost-cutting measures while the club suffers their worst-ever campaign.
The Red Devils are languishing in 14th place in the Premier League but could still end the season on a high, with Ruben Amorim’s side still in the mix for the Europa League title.
