Shreveport teen convicted of 2022 murder sentenced to life in prison
SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) — A teenager from Shreveport who was convicted for a deadly shooting will now serve a life sentence in prison.
Nineteen-year-old Eric Dewayne Green was sentenced by a judge on Monday, April 14, for the 2022 murder of 17-year-old Deanthony Walker. The victim, a student at Booker T. Washington High School, was shot and killed while walking home from school. According to officials, doorbell camera footage from a resident showed a black Kia Soul, which investigators learned was stolen, drive past the victim as he walked down Harvard Avenue near Harp Street. The Soul then stopped in the middle of the road, and one of the occupants called the Walker to the car.
At that time, Green exited the vehicle from the back driver’s side seat and fired 17, 9mm rounds at Walker using a Glock 19 pistol. One of the two other co-defendants is alleged to have fired a .357-caliber gun from the passenger-side rear vehicle as the victim ran away. The third co-defendant, seated in the front passenger seat, got out of the car, walked to Deanthony Walker, and allegedly shot him point-blank while he was on the pavement.
Green was the first of three defendants charged in Walker's death. Since he was a minor at the time of the murder, Green will be eligible for parole at a later date.
