Dr. Josh Delich selected as Edmond Public Schools' 23rd superintendent
EDMOND, Okla. (KFOR) - After a nationwide search, Edmond Public Schools announced its new leader on Monday.
Dr. Josh Delich was unanimously approved as Edmond Public Schools’ 23rd Superintendent at Monday morning’s special board meeting.
"What I want to be able to do is come in, let people get to know me at a very deep level, and be able to leave knowing we're going to continue this exceptional excellence for students and our staff and our system,” said Delich.
He succeeds Dr. Angela Grunewald, who’s been the district’s leader since 2021. She announced her retirement over winter break.
"It's time for someone else to pick up the torch and lead this district,” said Grunewald.
Delich comes to Edmond from Minnesota. He has more than two decades of experience.
"The amount of welcoming the genuine sense of belonging that one can get when they get here to Oklahoma is amazing,” said Delich.
He’s been a middle and high school principal, teacher and coach. Most recently, Delich held leadership roles in “The North Star State's" two largest public school districts.
"Dr. Delich brings a wealth of experience,” said Courtney Hobgood, President of Edmond Board of Education. “He brings passion for continuing the forward progress in Edmond and building on our history of success."
Delich said his plans for the future are to listen, learn, lead, act and execute.
"I want to infuse myself and integrate myself into a system to best learn what is going on with Edmond in terms of the effort that's happening, and also look at the areas that we need to improve and advance,” said Delich.
