Ohio State is Vance’s alma mater, making the White House visit extra special for him.
However, it quickly became a moment he will never forget, and not in a good way.
While going to pick up the trophy, Vance grabbed it the wrong way, causing an epic fumble.
The trophy split into two halves, with the lower portion tumbling to the ground.
TreVeyon Henderson stood next to the Vice President and showed off why he is a top NFL Draft prospect by catching the upper half of the trophy before it could fall too.
Vance quickly recovered the base from the ground, but the players in the background looked shocked by his error.
Even President Donald Trump cringed as the trophy crashed to the ground.
The players frantically tried to reattach the trophy, and appeared to slot the top back into the base after some effort.
Vance was a good sport about his error though, posting on X about breaking the trophy after the ceremony.
“I didn’t want anyone after Ohio State to get the trophy so I decided to break it,” he said.

College football fans got a laugh out of the Vice President’s fumble and shared on social media.
“Found the next SNL skit,” one fan said.
“Butterfingers!!” another fan said.
“The best part is watching them all laugh at him!” a third fan said.
“JD Vance is literally me. Fr. Fr,” a fourth fan said.

Ohio State dominated Notre Dame during the national championship game, winning 34-23.
It was their first national championship win since 2014.
The White House has hosted multiple championship-winning teams this year in much smoother ceremonies.
Both the Philadelphia Eagles and Los Angels Dodgers visited Trump in the last month to celebrate the Super Bowl and World Series.
Dodgers superstar Shohei Ohtani even took a special visit to the Oval Office alongside Trump.
The Florida Gators, winners of the March Madness tournament, should be the next to visit the White House.
