One dead after fire in Montgomery County town
FLORIDA, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Several Montgomery County agencies are investigating a fatal fire in the town of Florida near Amsterdam. The fire occurred on April 13 at a home located at 155 Abraham Road.
Fire crews arrived to the scene of a fully developed blaze around 2:50 p.m. on Sunday. During the operation, firefighters found that the homeowner, 85-year-old Delores Phelps, was still inside the house, but the intensity of the flames reportedly impeded any rescue attempts.
Phelps suffered severe injuries was declared dead at the home by the Montgomery County Coroner. Her body was later transported for an autopsy at Albany Medical Center.
The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office reported there are no indications of foul play at this time. The investigation into the cause of the fire remains ongoing.
