Fire rips through historic building in Paterson

PATERSON, N.J. (PIX11) -- A massive fire ravaged a historic building in the heart of Downtown Paterson Sunday evening.
Authorities say the fire broke out at the Modela furniture store on Sunday around 6:30 p.m. One firefighter was rushed to a hospital after falling in the store’s lower level.
The store was closed at the time of the fire.
Paterson Mayor Andre Sayegh noted the furniture store is just next to an e-bike shop. If the fire had spread, the outcome could have been catastrophic, he said.
