Gravel’s Shutout Forces Game Seven
Charles Gravel earned the first star with a 24-save shutout as the Prince George Spruce Kings forced Game Seven on Tuesday night with a 2-0 win over the Chilliwack Chiefs on Sunday night in front of 1,543 fans at Kopar Memorial Arena.
After a scoreless first period, Owen Goodbrand went in on a two on one with Linden Makow, and as Makow deflected it wide of the goal, followed it up and sent it back out front as Will Moore delighted the fan base by beating Quentin Miller with a wrister to make it 1-0.
Halfway through the second period, Trent Ballentyne fired one from his own zone off the end boards, Ryan Wachtel won the race and shot it off the far pad of Miller as Nick Metelkin buried the rebound to put the Spruce Kings up a pair of goals.
In the third, Gravel made nine saves, as the best one came as he stretched back to rob Dwayne Jean Jr. with the glove as he tried to get the Chiefs back in it.
With the victory, the Spruce Kings hit the road tomorrow for Game SEVEN against the Chiefs on Tuesday night at 7:00 PM, with 99.3 REWIND RADIO carrying all the action.
