Annual Easter celebration to return to Schenectady
SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Thousands of Easter eggs will take over a Schenectady park next week with the return of the annual Easter on the Hill. The holiday celebration will be held on April 20.
Organized by the nonprofit Just A Little Bit of Love Inc., this year's Easter on the Hill will run from 3 p.m. through 7 p.m. with bounce houses, pony rides and a visit from the Easter Bunny. Local musicians will also perform live and families from all over the Capital Region are invited to attend.
A large Easter egg hunt will kick off at 4 p.m., with about 6,000 eggs hidden around the park. This year will also feature the first Easter Fashion Show, where participants are encouraged to show off their best Easter outfit for the chance to win a prize.
"These are the memories that stay with children forever, filled with joy, confidence and the feeling of being a part of something special," said Just A Little Bit of Love Inc. Founder Tricia Pedro.
According to Pedro, last year's event saw over 400 attendees. This year, Easter on the Hill expects to welcome even more.
"Easter on the Hill is more than just a fun time, it's about loving on your community by giving them a sense of belonging, togetherness and unity," Pedro said.
Easter on the Hill will take place at Jerry Burrell Park in the Hamilton Hill neighborhood. Admission will be free.
The organization is also holding an Easter Egg Packing Party on Wednesday to stuff the 6,000 eggs that will be hidden in the Easter egg hunt. The packing party will run from 5:30 p.m. through 8 p.m. at the Schenectady Boys and Girls Club on 104 Education Drive. Volunteers of all ages are welcome and snacks will be available.
