Woman escapes devadasi trap, marries lover with police support in Karnataka
In Kurugodu, police intervened to prevent a young woman from being forced into the devadasi tradition. The woman wished to marry her lover. The Devadasi Women's Liberation Association and police helped the couple. Families were convinced to support the marriage. A simple wedding ceremony occurred at Doddabasaveshwara temple.
