UFC 314 video: Jean Silva puts Bryce Mitchell to sleep with nasty ninja choke submission
Jean Silva was playing with his food on Saturday night before putting Bryce Mitchell to sleep to make good on his promise for an emphatic finish in one of the most anticipated fights at UFC 314
While he had a bit of a slow start, Silva eventually found his range and he was just punishing Mitchell on the feet and stuffing every takedown attempt coming at him. After scoring a knockdown in the second round, Silva stayed on the attack until he snatched a nasty ninja choke that actually forced Mitchell to tap out just as he went to sleep from the submission.

The end came at 3:52 in the second round.
“I’m the next champion!” Silva shouted. “I was surprised because I thought it was part of the game [to touch gloves]. I’m sad for him. I hope and pray and help out Bryce Mitchell because I don’t think he’s right in the head.”
There was a lot of nervous but busy energy from Mitchell at the start but he did manage to connect with a couple of solid kicks to keep Silva honest. Silva was smiling back at him but not really unleashing his power strikes, although he finally started showing some more effective offense as time ticked away in the opening round.
That’s when Silva uncorked a spinning heel kick followed by a guillotine choke that had Mitchell in some serious trouble just before the horn sounded.
As the second round got started, Silva was settling into a rhythm when he blasted Mitchell with a stiff right hand that dropped the Arkansas native to the canvas. Rather than go to the ground, Silva invited him back to the feet where the striking exchanges continued.
Mitchell started getting a little more desperate with his takedowns and Silva was shrugging him off with relative ease. Using superior speed and power, Silva was just hammering away at Mitchell before he took advantage of another grappling attempt to grab onto the ninja choke.
Mitchell attempted to roll out of the choke but instead the submission just got that much tighter with Silva securing his grip and putting his opponent to sleep just seconds later.
After calling out Mitchell following his previous win, Silva more than came through with his performance at UFC 314 and he’s going to be a problem for anyone coming after him in the featherweight division. He’s now 5-0 in the UFC with all five fights ending by knockout or submission.
