Man City W vs Man United W: Match preview, team news, where to watch
Manchester United Women return to action on Sunday afternoon when they face local rivals Manchester City at Joie Stadium in the FA Women’s Cup semi-final.
It is one of two meetings between the two Manchester clubs before the end of the season, with the other being a league clash.
The Red Devils are the defending champions of the competition and stand a good chance of retaining their title. They have scored 16 goals and conceded once in the competition this term.
City have won this competition thrice but have not reached the final since 2022. They have not been as free-scoring as United, having netted eight goals.
Match preview
City knocked United out of the League Cup in January and boast a superior head-to-head record, winning nine of their 17 previous meetings.
However, United are currently in better form than the Cityzens. They have won eight of their last 10 matches across all competitions.
City have not been in poor form either, but they have shown signs of inconsistency. After winning four consecutive games in February, Nick Cushing’s side have yet to record back-to-back victories.
Team news
Head coach Marc Skinner confirmed in his pre-match press conference that United have no new injury concerns.
However, assessments will still be conducted on players returning from international duty.
Forward Celin Bizet, who withdrew from Norway’s squad, is fit to play. Long-term absentee Evie Rabjohn is ‘back on the grass’ but is not expected to play again this season.
City are sweating over the fitness of striker Vivianne Miedema, who picked up a knock while on international duty with the Netherlands.
Where to watch
The game will be shown live on BBC Two. Coverage will also be available on BBC iPlayer and the BBC Sport website, and there will be live commentary on ManUtd.com.
