PFL 2 gets last minute new main event after fighter not cleared to compete at weigh-ins
The PFL 2 main event has undergone yet another change.
Late replacement Josh Rettinghouse was not cleared to compete in his fight against Leandro Higo, so he’s been replaced by alternate Marcirley Alves, who was originally scheduled as an alternate on the card. The news was announced by PFL officials on Thursday during the weigh-ins ahead of Friday’s event.
Rettinghouse being pulled from the card leads to a third new main event for the PFL 2 card after ex-UFC fighter Taila Santos was originally scheduled to headline the event in a fight against Julianna Velasquez, but Santos was forced off the card.

That led to Higo vs. Rettinghouse being bumped into the main event slot, but now Rettinghouse has also been forced off the show.
Now, Higo faces Alves as part of the PFL 2 card, kicking off the bantamweight and women’s flyweight tournaments.
As far as the rest of the weigh-ins, Justin Wetzell also came in at 138.4 pounds for his fight against Kasum Kasumov, but PFL officials told MMA Fighting that the bout is still proceeding as scheduled on Friday.
The rest of the fighters competing on the card made weight without incident, which includes UFC and Bellator veteran Liz Carmouche hitting the scale at 126 pounds for her fight against Ilara Joanne, who weighed 124.8 pounds
