Brennan Johnson has no regrets over Tottenham move despite Nottingham Forest rise
Brennan Johnson has revealed that he has no regrets about leaving Nottingham Forest, even as Tottenham Hotspur stare at a grim Premier League table that paints a very different picture to the one he left behind.
Not many would have predicted that after a fifth-place finish in Ange Postecoglou’s first spell in charge at Tottenham, Spurs would be nine places worse off in his second season.
Well, that’s the predicament the Lilywhites currently find themselves in. Given their current league position — with the top eight potentially securing European football next season — Spurs look set to miss out entirely, sitting all the way down in 14th.
Of course, while one of the so-called ‘big six’ fumbles, another club has stepped up — and that club is Nottingham Forest, who are now third and in with a real shot of Champions League football.

Brennan Johnson speaks on Tottenham move as Nottingham Forest fly
While there will be conversations this summer about whether the Tricky Trees can hang on to their top performers, Tottenham Hotspur had already dipped into their talent pool almost two seasons ago, prising away Brennan Johnson.
But given the stark contrast in the two clubs’ fortunes, you’d be forgiven for wondering if Johnson made a step up or a step down.
The Tottenham winger has now spoken to the media about his move and whether he holds any regrets. He said: “I am happy for Nottingham Forest and the season they are having, but I’m delighted to be here. I have loved every second. The size of the club, people within the club and the fans are all something that I could only have wished for when younger.”

Of course, while Tottenham continue to struggle, Johnson is enjoying one of his best seasons yet in front of goal.
Following his brace against Southampton, the Welshman hit a personal milestone, scoring ten goals in a Premier League season for the first time.
Johnson also became only the second Welshman to score 10+ goals in a Premier League season — the first being Gareth Bale. At just 23 years old, the Wales coach believes Brennan Johnson has the potential to become a top player.
He said: “The way I look at Brennan — I class him as a young player — and I would definitely class him in the development stage, especially in that pool where I see him.
“There’s loads he can improve on. I believe, even with us at Wales, there is a big part of his game that can improve. It’s, is he willing to do it? Is he willing to listen? Is he willing to learn?
“I believe he has the attributes to be a really top player — now it’s time to see where he wants to take it. I believe he has that capability. I believe he has that mindset. It’s just games, confidence, and I believe we’ll see a lot more from him.”
