Supermarket chain launches whole bottle of wine in a can in time for picnic weather
A POPULAR supermarket has launched a whole bottle of wine in a can just in time for picnic weather.
The new product is dropping just as temperatures are rising, with wine-fans readying themselves for Spring.
Aldi‘s Costellore Pinot Grigio comes in an aluminium wine bottle and costs just £5.99.
Get your picnic baskets ready, as the highly-anticipated item can be found on Aldi shelves from April 14.
As for the product inside the design, the Pinto is described as light and fruity.
The Aldi website states: “The wine itself, a crisp and refreshing Pinot Grigio with notes of zesty lemon and orchard fruits, is shipped directly from Italy and bottled at a sustainably powered UK winery.
“It’s the perfect accompaniment to seafood, white meats, light creamy sauces, or pasta.”
The new design is 75 per cent lighter than a standard glass bottle and comes as Aldi was named Sustainable Drinks Retailer of The Year at the Drinks Retailing Awards 2025.
At 95g and fully recyclable, the bottle adds another string to Aldi’s sustainability bow.
The retailer is also partnered with Lanchester Wines and Broadland Drinks, which creates climate-friendly drinks packaging.

“Shoppers are looking for ways to make a difference, and we’re proud to be leading the way with innovations like this aluminium wine bottle, building on our commitment to sustainable packaging.”

“This initiative fits perfectly with our ambition to reduce our own carbon footprint and work with our retailers to make their businesses more sustainable.
“We know the biggest factor in a bottle of wine’s carbon footprint is the bottle itself, so by switching from glass to aluminum, we can help meet the rising demand for alternative lower carbon formats.”
Wine in a can isn’t the only product the retailer revealed for Spring, with BBQ food flying off the shelves as well.
As the UK sees a surge in temperatures, Brits start to stock up on BBQ essentials including ice cream, rose, and outdoor cooking equipment.
Ice cream sales were expected to reach 3.5 million in the first week of April, reflecting a staggering 25 per cent increase vs this time last year.
HOW TO SAVE MONEY AT ALDI
Aldi doesn’t have a membership program or a point system which offer deals on specific items.
However they offer Aldi Specialbuys in which there are a range of new deals that drop each week, with the winter gadget Specialbuys coming in on 17 October.
These deals are specific to Aldi can can be found on their website and in-store as well.
On Sunday 13 October there is a collection of laundry and cleaning deals set to hit the shelves.
