Gladstone man who abducted, sexually abused child from Canada sentenced to 50 years in prison
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A 43-year-old man from Gladstone, Oregon, was sentenced to 50 years in federal prison on Tuesday after abducting and sexually abusing a child from Canada.
Noah Marano met the child through a music creation social media platform before traveling to Canada, abducting her, and sexually abusing her multiple times in hotel rooms, federal prosecutors said.
In a press release, the U.S. Department of Justice detailed the instances of abuse Madrano committed against the child victim in 2022:
"According to court documents, Madrano met a child online whom he sexually exploited for more than a year. In May 2022, he traveled to Canada to meet the child in person, took the child to a hotel room, sexually abused the victim, and recorded his abuse. A few weeks later, on June 24, 2022, Madrano returned to Canada, where he abducted the child from outside a school and took the victim to another hotel room. At the hotel, Madrano sexually abused the child for several days and recorded videos of his abuse. On July 1, 2022, Madrano hid the child in the trunk of his vehicle and drove back to the United States. Once in Oregon, Madrano brought the victim to a hotel room, where he continued to sexually abuse the child."
Madrano was arrested in the early morning of July 2, 2022, after FBI special agents and Oregon City police officers entered his hotel room and found him with the victim. The child was taken into protective custody, reunited with her parents and brought back to Canada.
In September 2022, a federal grand jury in Portland indicted Madrano with six charges related to child sex abuse.
In January, Madrano pleaded guilty to sexually exploiting a child and transporting a child with intent to engage in criminal sexual activity. He was sentenced to 600 months in federal prison, ordered to pay a $5,000 fine and will be on supervised release for the rest of his life. He will also be ordered to pay his victim restitution in an amount that will be determined at a later date.
