Pro-Abortion Man Who Tried to Assassinate Justice Brett Kavanaugh Pleads Guilty
A California man accused of plotting to assassinate Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh in 2022has pleaded guilty.
Nicholas John Roske, 28, of Simi Valley, California, was arrested in June 2022 near Kavanaugh’s Maryland home, armed with a handgun, a knife, and zip ties, according to federal authorities. Roske allegedly threatened to kill Kavanaugh because he was upset that the justice may overturn Roe and allow states to protect unborn babies from abortion
The arrest came shortly after the leak of a draft Supreme Court opinion indicating the court would overturn Roe v. Wade, which allowed abortions up to birth across America.

Roske, 29, entered his plea in federal court in Greenbelt, about 10 miles from Kavanaugh’s residence.
“I am pleading guilty to the attempted assassination charge,” Roske calmly told U.S. District Court Judge Deborah Boardman during a half-hour hearing
Boardman informed Roske — who’s been in custody since his arrest in the early morning of June 8, 2022 — that the prosecution contends his crime was an act of terrorism and that, as a result, sentencing guidelines call for him to receive between 30 years and life in prison. The judge, a Biden appointee, set sentencing for Oct. 3.
During the hearing, neither side explicitly discussed Roske’s motivation for taking a flight from Los Angeles to Dulles Airport almost three years ago with a gun and ammunition in his luggage and then traveling to Kavanaugh’s home by taxi in the middle of the night.
Federal officials said Roske traveled from California to the Washington, D.C., area with the intent to kill Kavanaugh, a conservative justice who later voted with the majority to overturn Roe v. Wade in the Dobbs decision. Court documents allege Roske was motivated by anger over the anticipated ruling and had researched Kavanaugh’s home address online. He was apprehended after calling 911 himself, telling dispatchers he was having suicidal thoughts and needed help.
In a court filing last week, prosecutors said that about a week before his arrest, Roske used an encrypted platform to send messages suggesting he planned to kill as many as three Supreme Court justices.
“Im gonna stop roe v wade from being overturned,” Roske said in the messages, according to prosecutors. “I could get at least one, which would change the votes for decades to come. and I am shooting for 3 … at the end of the day biden still chooses the replacements. gop cant do shit about it.”
At the time of his arrest, authorities found Roske carrying a tactical vest, ammunition, and burglary tools, suggesting a premeditated plan. He was initially charged with attempted murder of a U.S. official, a crime that carries a potential life sentence. Details of the plea deal, including any reduced charges or sentencing recommendations, remain unclear.
Days after a leaked draft ruling showed the Supreme Court overturning Roe, the pro-abortion group Ruth Sent Us published the addresses of the conservative justices’ homes online publicly – prompting authorities to increase security for the high court members and their staff.
Justice Samuel Alito, the author of the draft opinion, and his family also were moved from their home to a secure location due to violent threats.
