Washburn University to host U.S. Court of Appeals judges
TOPEKA (KSNT) - A three-judge panel from the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit will hear arguments for multiple cases at Washburn University later this week in a session open to the public.
The panel will hear arguments for cases out of Kansas, Oklahoma and Colorado regarding legal issues, immigration law, education law and criminal defense on Thursday, April 10. The panel includes Chief Judge Jerome Holmes, Judge Veronica Rossman and Judge Nancy Moritz.
“The opportunity to host the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals underscores Washburn Law’s dedication to providing an exceptional legal education that integrates real-world experiences,” said Jeffrey Jackson, dean of the Washburn University School of Law. “Observing appellate advocacy at this level is invaluable for our students, offering them direct exposure to the complexities of federal appellate practice.”
The session will start at 9 a.m. at the Robert J. Dole Hall. Students and members of the public will be allowed to hear the arguments in person. The list of the cases being discussed can be found here.
