‘Best £20 I’ve ever spent’ Aldi shoppers say about garden buy that transforms their outside space into the Mediterranean
NOW that the weather is finally brightening up, Brits can once again start to enjoy outdoor life in their gardens.
This also means they can decorate their homes and outdoor spaces with summer-themed plants to help brighten things up.
Aldi is helping shoppers do just that, and they won’t have to break the bank either.
In fact, customers are already racing to get their hands on the latest offerings.
Taking to the Facebook group ALDI Aisle of Shame Community, a shopper shared a picture of their latest buy – an orange tree.
They wrote: “Orange tree in UK Aldi today. Best £20 I’ve ever spent!”
The post gathered over 5.2k interactions, with more than 600 people rushing to the comments section to share their thoughts.
One user wrote: “Citrus is my favourite fruit. I pray it continues to flourish!!”
A second commented: “I have one, it’s not an orange tree, they are more of the family of lemons and limes so sour to taste and you can eat the skin also, they are good for cocktail drink making and chutney.”
Meanwhile, a third shared: “I have one from Aldi, it’s three years old now, still going strong. It’s like being in the conservatory.”
And a fourth added: “I got my mum the last one in Hythe, Kent today. It’s really cute. The woman on the till said they were selling loads and also had lemon ones as well.”
Orange trees are fantastic additions to have around the home.
Not only do they look great and provide you with your own fruit growing in the garden, but they also help to combat air pollution.
Experts believe that a ripe orange can typically remain on the tree for several weeks or even months after reaching its full size.
However, owners must note that the orange will not continue to ripen once it has been picked from the tree.
According to Gardeners World, there are a number of different essential tips that owners must follow for them to grow properly in the UK – and this is also the case for lemon trees.
Gardeners must ensure that the orange tree has good drainage as they will not thrive in waterlogged soil.
This is particularly important for those orange tree owners in the UK, as the country is prone to rainy days.
In the summer time, Gardeners World experts also advise to watering them once a week – preferably with rain water.
They also recommend to move the orange trees indoors once it is winter time. A cool, frost free place is advisable.
