Bayern Munich are worried about something that’s happening at Tottenham
A new report has revealed why the alarm bells are going off at Bayern Munich regarding Mathys Tel and what the German club feel about their chances of getting a fee from Tottenham for the forward.
Tel has not had the expected impact in his first two months at Tottenham and currently finds himself out of Ange Postecoglou’s first-choice starting eleven.
Reports over recent weeks have continued to indicate that Spurs have been happy with Tel’s attitude and application so far, but the Frenchman would be keen to show his quality on the pitch for his new side.
While Tottenham Hotspur may not be panicking about the 19-year-old’s form, it has now been suggested that concerns are mounting at his parent club.
Bayern Munich are increasingly worried about missing out on Tel fee
A report in the print edition of BILD (as relayed by Sport Witness) has now claimed that Bayern are increasingly worried that Tottenham will not take up the €50m (£42.5m) option to buy the forward.
The outlet points out that Tel now finds himself as the fifth choice at Spurs and this situation is causing concerns in Munich.
The report says that the forward has proven to be ‘anything but good’ since his switch to Spurs and his form risks ruining Bayern’s plans for the summer.
It is mentioned that Tottenham were ready to pay €60m (£51.8m) for Tel in January, but since the forward was unsure of a permanent switch, Bayern instead allowed him to move to North London on loan for an initial €10m (£8.5m) fee.
However, the Bavarian side now feel they are at risk of missing out on the rest of the amount amidst the striker’s struggles at N17.
Why Bayern Munich are desperate for Tottenham to sign Mathys Tel
While this report speaks about the Bundesliga clubs’ concerns, it does not delve into why the German side are so keen to offload the Frenchman to Spurs.
That was explained in another report from the same publication a week ago, which stated that Bayern are reliant on the Tel fee to sign a backup to Harry Kane.
If the German club do not receive the fee from Spurs for the teenager, they could potentially end up calling off their pursuit of a new striker this summer.
