Tottenham battle four Premier League rivals to sign Pietro Comuzzo
Tottenham Hotspur have been credited with an interest in a young Italian centre-back, who has seen his stock rise significantly over the last 12 months, but they will have to see off competition from several of their rivals to land the player.
Spurs may be on the lookout for defensive reinforcements in the summer as Ben Davies sees his contract run out while reports indicate that Crisitain Romero wants to leave Tottenham.
The Lilywhites have been linked with a move for Marc Guehi, and rumours also indicate that Spurs are monitoring Bournemouth’s Dean Huijsen
A fresh report from Italy has now claimed that Ange Postecoglou’s side are one of a number of English sides eyeing a move for a young Fiorentina centre-back.
Tottenham one of five Premier League clubs eyeing Pietro Comuzzo
A report in La Nazione (as relayed by TMW) has now claimed that Pietro Comuzzo has now emerged as an option on Tottenham’s radar after recent contract developments.
The 20-year-old had been a mainstay in Fiorentina’s backline at the start of the campaign but has now seen his game time drastically reduced. Viola’s attempts to tie him down to a new contract have failed.
This has reportedly alerted Spurs, Newcastle United, Chelsea, and Arsenal, who have all expressed an interest in Comuzzo.
Those clubs have now been joined in the race for the centre-back by Man United, who have sent their scouts to check on the Italy Under-21 international on several occasions recently.
How much is Pietro Comuzzo expected to cost?
The report does not say how much Fiorentina are expected to demand for Comuzzo this summer, but it does provide one detail that suggests that the player may not come cheap.
It is revealed that Napoli were previously keen on the defender and even launched a €35m (£30m) offer for the youngster, which was turned down by Viola.
With Comuzzo having three years left on his contract at Artemio Franchi Stadium, there is no reason to think that Fiorentina’s valuation would have come down by much.
