1. Dennis Drue pleads not guilty to false impersonation charges
Dennis Drue is the man responsible for killing two Shenendehowa students and seriously injuring two others in a 2012 Northway crash and he was back in court Monday night. Drue pleaded not guilty at Monday night’s arraignment.
2. Albany woman charged with vehicular assault
Albany Police made an arrest on Sunday after an assault investigation. Emoni Ellison, 23, of Albany, faces multiple charges.
3. Local businesses raising funds to support Lavender, abandoned dog
Police are still asking for the public’s help after a female dog, Lavender was found abandoned and abused in Schenectady. Local businesses have stepped up to fundraise for her recovery.
4. DOCCS extends increased overtime rates
The New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision extended its overtime rate of 2.5 times regular pay until May 9. The extension comes as DOCCS works to recover, recruit, and rebuild after the correction officers’ strike in March.
5. Scotia-Glenville BOE approves $67M budget
The Scotia-Glenville Board of Education approved a budget of over $67 million for the 2025-2026 school year. The budget maintains all existing programs from the current school year, including both school resource officers, an athletic trainer, and the Learning Leaps program.
