Barefoot darts star Damon Heta has awkward lift experience with England ace before doors open to ‘half of Newcastle’
DAMON HETA revealed he had an awkward encounter in a lift with an England star… while barefoot.
Heta, 37, played in the PDC International Darts Open in Germany last weekend.
He then headed straight to Leicester for this week’s Players Championship 10 and 11 double header.
And on Monday evening, Heta tweeted about a chance encounter with none other than Dan Burn.
He posted just before 6.30pm – just 90 minutes before Burn started for Newcastle in the 3-0 win at Leicester.
The Australian wrote: “Jumped in the hotel lift with Dan Burn, barefoot in a mad rush to get my Uber Eats as I couldn’t find my thongs [flip flops].
“It’s fair to say I broke the ice first.
“Then to come out of the lift to the half of Newcastle waiting for autographs.
“Security got jokes, asking if my Uber Eats were some shoes.”
It is quite likely Heta and the Newcastle were staying at the same hotel for their respective sporting exploits in Leicester this week.

Darts-fan Burn – who was in attendance at the Premier League Darts in Newcastle – helped his Magpies side stroll to a comfortable victory over the doomed Foxes to continue his dream few weeks after winning the Carabao Cup and making his England debut.
Heta, meanwhile, was knocked out in the last 16 and last 32 at last week’s two Players Championships events in Leicester – losing to Josh Rock and Raymond van Barneveld.
The world No8 suffered a disappointing exit to Wessel Nijman in Germany on Sunday.
But darts fans were loving his hilarious interaction with Burn.
One said: “Hope the food was worth it.”
Another wrote: “We need to see the infamous Heta food order please.”
A third added: “This is why we love you Damon.”
