Dennis Drue pleads not guilty to false impersonation charges
COLONIE, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Dennis Drue is the man responsible for killing two Shenendehowa students and seriously injuring two others in a 2012 Northway crash and he was back in court Monday night. The families of those children he killed made certain to be there, too.
“This person just never seems to get it and understand the repercussions of what he's done. And its frustration,” said Michael Stewart the father of Christopher Stewart who was killed in the crash.
Brian Rivers, Deanna Rivers Father, the other student was killed said he was, “Disgusted. I could see him in 13 years, I don t care to see him ever again. I just wish he got out and made the right choices. But here we are.”
Drue was out on parole when the Colonie Police found him at the Crossings Park after hours and behind the wheel of a running car. He was arrested after giving police a fake name. The families said to see Drue in trouble and in front of a judge again brought back painful memories. “Were all just so disheartened that we're taking a huge step backward. We never thought we would be back in court again,” said Christopher’s Mother Regina Stewart. “We were truly hopeful that we wouldn’t see him ever again.”
Drue pleaded not guilty at Monday night’s arraignment. His recent behavior disturbing to the families in attendance. Michael Stewart, saying they have been down this road before, “Three or four parole hearings that we had to basically spill all our emotions out again. And now we are here again dealing with this trial as well as his next parole hearing that's going to take place. We're not going anywhere. We haven't gone anywhere. And, you know, shame on you for putting us through this, again.” Stewart went on to say, “He's violated his parole again and hopefully the court system can get it right this time.”
And when it comes to more jail time for Drue, "Any time more that he can serve would be good. Because at this point, I feel he's disrespecting our children again,” stated Debbie Rivers.
Drue will remain at the Schenectady County jail until his next parole hearing May 7th.
