Walmart electronics thief convicted in Washington County
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- A 35-year-old man who stole about $12,000 in electronics from area Walmart stores in 2023 was sentenced to 5 years in prison by a Washington County judge.
A jury convicted Isaura Garcia on April 2, the Washington County District Attorney's Office said. These crimes began February 20, 2023 when Garcia and a woman walked into a Tigard Walmart and tampered with a security case filled with electronics. He then shoplifted other items and put on a disguise when he came back in the store about 30 minutes later. That's when he took $1500 worth of security cameras from the tampered case and left the store.
Garcia and the same woman used that exact method to take more than $10,000 in electronics from a Walmart in Cornelius in March 2023, the DA's office said.
In February of this year, Garcia crashed a stolen 2021 Volkswagen into a home on SW 187th Avenue and Vista Street, then ran off and left a dog pinned to the side of the home. The dog was rescued and no one inside the house was hurt.
Garcia remained at large for 2 hours until he was tracked down in a backyard by a Washington County K9 named Puddles.
At the time of this crash, Garcia had seven outstanding warrants, officials said.
Judge Erik Buchér was able to enhance Garcia's sentence on the Walmart cases because he was on probation at the time of the 2025 crimes.
