Man, 24, arrested over firebombings linked to Edinburgh gang war
A MAN has been arrested over two alleged firebombings linked to a violent gang war in Edinburgh.
The 24-year-old has been arrested by cops probing the blazes at two properties linked to caged cocaine kingpin Mark Richardson.
The first blaze on March 6 saw the Belle Cheveux salon on Albert Road in Leith, run by Richardson’s partner Stephanie Dignan, torched by a hooded figure who appeared to lob a molotov cocktail through the window.
A second fire attack on March 16 destroyed a property where Ms Dignan’s dad Steven is understood to have a house.
Cops probing the blazes have arrested a man in connection with wilful fireraising and reset of a stolen vehicle.
Detectives say they are continuing to probe the alleged incidents.
Detective Superintendent Paul Grainger said: “I want to reassure the community that we are continuing to work on this investigation.
“If you have any information that can assist our investigation, please get in touch.”
The blazes are believed to be part of a brutal gang war raging in Scotland’s capital.
In separate incidents, homes have been firebombed and shot at amid the escalating violence as rival mobsters target the jailed crime boss, who was locked up for his role in a £200m supergang.
It’s claimed the violent underworld feud erupted against associates of Richardson in retaliation for a £500,000 drugs con.
We told of underworld claims a fugitive mobster called ‘Miami’ is behind the ongoing chaos as he calls the shots from his Dubai bolthole.
Insiders claim the former Rangers ultra has been spooked by police raids amid pressure from Holyrood to halt the explosive gang war.
Footage of the attacks have been shared with chilling threats issued to anyone associated with Mark Richardson.
National Crime Agency detectives are understood to be working with Scots officers after violence swept Edinburgh’s gangland.
We told yesterday how the street war moved west as an unknown group called ‘Tamo Junto’ targeted homes linked to Richardson in Edinburgh and properties linked to the feared Daniels gang in Glasgow.
