Everything we know so far about ‘The White Lotus’ Season 4: ‘There’s always room for more murders’
It's time to check out of The White Lotus for now, but when can we check in again?
Season 3 of Mike White's Emmy-winning hit wrapped up on April 6 with the show's deadliest finale yet. If you're done processing those deaths and Lochlan (Sam Nivola) not cleaning out a blender that sat out overnight, you're probably ready to RSVP to a fourth White Lotus resort.
So what's going on with Season 4? Here's everything we know so far.
Has The White Lotus been renewed for Season 4?
Yes, HBO renewed The White Lotus for a fourth season in January, nearly a month before Season 3 premiered on Feb. 16. This was the first time the show was renewed before the new season premiered. The Seasons 2 and 3 renewals came while Seasons 1 and 2 were airing.
Where will The White Lotus Season 4 be set?
After Hawaii, Italy, and Thailand, where in the world will The White Lotus go next? TBD. The location has not been announced yet, but in the Season 3 finale featurette, White hinted that Season 4 will not be at a sunny beach resort like the first three. "For the fourth season, I want to get a little bit out of the 'crashing waves against rocks' vernacular," he said. "But there's always more room for more murders at the White Lotus hotels."
The show films at real Four Seasons resorts. In February, Francesca Orsi, HBO's head of drama, told Deadline they were scouting locations in the next week few weeks. "I can't really say where we’re going to land, but chances are somewhere in Europe," she shared.
In 2023, while speaking at a festival in Sydney, White said his "dream would be to hit every continent." "We kind of have to come to Australia if we keep going," he said. "It would be so fun. Obviously, there's a huge wealth of talent here and the beauty is inarguable, so it feels like it checks all the boxes."
But before you start preparing for The White Lotus in Antarctica, executive producer David Bernard told The Guardian in February, "Mike doesn't like the cold."
Has The White Lotus Season 4 been filmed?
It has not. Production is being eyed for 2026, according to Variety.
Who is in The White Lotus Season 4 cast?
The cast has not been announced yet, but going by history, you can probably expect a previous cast member to be in Season 4. Jennifer Coolidge starred in the first two seasons (and won Emmys for both). Natasha Rothwell appeared in Seasons 1 and 3. And Jon Gries has the distinction of being in all three so far. After the Season 3 finale, Gries said he doesn't think he'll be in the fourth season, but added, "I don't know so. All I can say is every time I leave, I assume it's over."
That could also be the case for Rothwell. The Emmy nominee penned an emotional Instagram post before the Season 3 finale, in which she seemingly bid adieu to her character Belinda. "Thank you, Belinda," she wrote. "Portraying you has been one of the greatest gifts of my life. You gave a voice to quiet strength, to unseen labor, and to the hope we hold in the face of heartbreak. To everyone who saw her (and me)— thank you for seeing us. And to Mike White, thank you for trusting me with the show's heart."
In The Hollywood Reporter's oral history of Season 3, Patrick Schwarzenegger said he'd heard rumors of an all-star season, about which White said, "I'd love to do that."
Who is not returning for The White Lotus Season 4?
One person for sure at the moment: Cristobal Tapia de Veer. The composer, who's won three Emmys for the show, told the New York Times he will not return for Season 4 due to creative differences with White that have been present since the first season and intensified over the Season 3 theme.
When will The White Lotus Season 4 premiere?
There's no premiere date for Season 4 yet, but since production is earmarked for 2026 and Season 3 took six months to film, Season 4 likely won't arrive to your screens until 2027.
