‘Maalaala Mo Kaya’ to return on screen after 2 years
MANILA, Philippines – After two years of being off air, the Philippines’ longest-running drama anthology, Maalaala Mo Kaya (MMK), returns to free TV and digital streaming platforms.
Starting on April 24, it will come back as a limited series on iWantTFC and eventually be aired on A2Z, Kapamilya Online (Live), and Kapamilya Channel two days after.
The news was announced by the show’s host, Charo Santos-Concio, during the ABS-CBN Ball last Friday, April 4, where she expressed her enthusiasm and excitement for the comeback of the anthology, which has been a staple in Filipino household entertainment.
“In my heart, I knew that one day babalik siya. Because the loyal viewers and the new generation of viewers are looking forward to watching the true-to-life stories of our Kapamilyas,” she said.
“Ang daming Gen Z na lumaki na nanonood ng MMK kasama ang kanilang mommies and daddies, lolas and lolos. I’m so happy that they know MMK is a brand of good storytelling,” Charo added.
The host also gave hints about the stories that will be featured in its first few episodes, one being the life of Sofronio Vasquez, the first Filipino who won the American franchise of The Voice. The host also revealed that the series will feature the life story of one of the BINI members.
Throughout its 31-year run prior, MMK has been a multi-awarded series, earning local and international recognition for both its actors and production team. In November of 2022, the show bid farewell to its viewers with its final episode aired on December 10 of the same year. – with reports by Kevin Ian Lampayan/Rappler.com
