Alejo Veliz receives interesting diagnosis for his next Tottenham loan
Quique Sanchez Flores, who managed Alejo Veliz during his loan spell at Sevilla last term, has given an interesting explanation for the Tottenham striker’s struggles and what he needs to do to get back his mojo.
Veliz has endured two disappointing loan spells at Sevilla and Espanyol over the last two seasons, with the striker struggling to get starts under his belt and looking short of confidence at the moment.
Tottenham Hotspur face a tricky decision on the Argentine this summer, especially considering there could be a new manager in charge at Spurs when he returns to the club for pre-season.
Over recent weeks, it has been reported that River Plate are keen on taking Veliz back to Argentine football, with the club allegedly wanting the marksman through the door ahead of their Club World Cup campaign this summer.
Quique Sanchez Flores gives Tottenham Alejo Veliz advice
While Veliz has at least played a decent amount of football at Espanyol this season, he was almost entirely frozen out at Sevilla in the second half of last season, playing just 31 minutes from six games under Quique Sanchez Flores.
The former Sevilla boss has now spoken about the striker’s struggles and suggested that he needs to move to the right kind of side, which relies on playing crosses into the box.
Sanchez Flores told Pericos Online (as relayed by La Grada Online) about the Spurs man: “He’s young, we have to give him time; he has to find the right place where he can perform well. He has to be on teams that have a lot of balls in the box.”
Alejo Veliz’s summer plans revealed
Despite the speculation linking the striker with a move to Argentina, it has been suggested over recent days that he is not too keen to return to his home country this summer.
It has been claimed by some sources that Veliz wants to continue playing in Europe, with the 21-year-old alleged to have made that clear to River Plate when they contacted him.
Meanwhile, it has also been reported that Tottenham want Veliz to be part of their pre-season plans and have not yet made any final decision on his future.
