Champions League Women Final Four returns to Piraeus
The pinnacle of the women’s European club water polo season, the Champions League Final Four, will return to Piraeus in May. This year’s hosts, Olympiacos SFP, will welcome title-holders Astralpool CN Sabadell, last season’s bronze medallists CN Sant Andreu and newcomers FTC-Telekom Waterpolo.
The 2022 edition, which was also held in Piraeus, was the light at the end of a long tunnel, as it was the first edition in front of fans after the Covid pandemic.
Olympiacos celebrated in their own home as they retained the title thanks to a brilliant performance against Sabadell in a thrilling final.
The two giants now clash again, this time in the semis – and it’s also going to be a replay of last year’s final, where Sabadell triumphed in front of their own fans in Barcelona.
Fellow Spanish side Sant Andreu, who won the bronze medal a year ago, will face Final Four newcomers FTC of Hungary.
The Piraeus pool, which is the home of two giants of European water polo – the men’s and women’s teams of Olympiacos – has hosted hundreds of outstanding matches over the past few years, and now four more are on the horizon.
The Champions League Women Final Four will take place on 2-3 May and you can watch all the action live on www.euroaquaticstv.com, and stay up-to-date with live results and real-time updates through the European Aquatics App. Download it here: Google Play..
