First open water wind addicted images of 2025!
The ice has finally open up in the Britannia area to make open water space for the wind addicted crowd to get their fix. The wind, waves and sun made for a great time out shooting yesterday. A handful of hearty souls donned thick neoprene or drysuits to plunge into the icy waters of the river and charged up and down wind for a few hours.
Launching required a hike down the stone pier holding the launched kite in one hand and the board in the other and then leaping into the slushy river edge and out to open water. The waves would roll through the remaining pack ice close to shore, the sounds from the clinking ice was entertaining. The heavy slushy water and ice mix grabbed a couple people, hard to work through this thick moving mass.
I put some miles on the Nikon Z6II and assorted Nikon lenses again, I also flew my DJI Mini3 pro drone for a bit. The wind was right at the limits of what my small drone could handle. So happy to be out getting some new kite images again.
