Schenectady Jewish Community Center hosts Touch A Truck fundraiser
NISKAYUNA, N.Y. (NEWS10) — The Schenectady Jewish Community Center (SJCC) held its first ever Touch a Truck Fundraiser Event on Sunday. Proceeds will go towards a new summer camp building.
Presented by M&T Bank, children and families were invited to get up close to the variety of vehicles that keep communities safe and running smoothly. Featured vehicles included emergency response vehicles, construction equipment and more.
The fundraiser also offered indoor activities, like a bounce house, arts and crafts, face painting and obstacle courses. Food was available from the 518 Kosher Food Truck.
All proceeds from the event are going to the Mike Palahnuk Pavilion Project, which aims to build a new pavilion for the SJCC summer camp. The pavilion will be named after the center's longtime facilities director, Mike Palahnuk, who passed away from cancer in 2024.
"As the summers get hotter and more rain, we want to keep growing and expanding, and we need the space and roofs over our heads to do it," Rachel Carlozzi, the center's senior director of camps and summer programs, told NEWS10.
According to Susan Bardack, a spokesperson for the SJCC, the event helped the organization to hit $10,000 of their $50,000 goal.
