Topeka Zoo armadillo, Erin, dies at 22
TOPEKA (KSNT) - The Topeka Zoo & Conservation Center announced on Saturday that one of its resident animals has died.
The zoo announced on social media on April 5 that Erin, a Southern three-banded armadillo, died at the age of 22. Zoo staff recently celebrated Erin's birthday on March 17.
"Erin played an important role being an education ambassador animal for her species and took part in educational programs that taught many children and guests about armadillos & their various adaptations. While she was kept in an area behind-the-scenes when not on program, she was well-loved by staff and everyone that met her."
