Former Blue Devil Chris Collins, Northwestern, Agree On An Extension
Great news for #20!
In all the excitement and hubbub about the Final Four, we forgot to talk about Chris Collins. He’s been at Northwestern since 2013 and the former Duke player and assistant has done well.
His record is just above break-even, but this is Northwestern, where basketball has typically struggled. In fact, the Wildcats had never been to the NCAA tournament before Collins took the job. Now, they’ve been three times, which, by their standards, is epic (in fairness, Northwestern’s academics, and competing with large, land-grant universities in the Big-Whatever, has made competing quite difficult).
Collins, who had been linked to the Villanova job before it went to Maryland’s Kevin Willard, has now signed a three-year extension. We hope he makes several more runs.
