San Francisco lands class of 2025 shooting guard Legend Smiley
By SAM LANCE
Class of 2025 guard Legend Smiley has committed to San Francisco, he told ZAGSBLOG.
“I choose them because they always stayed in contact with me throughout my whole high school career ever since they offered me as a freshman,” Smiley said. “That bond never fell off. Me and my family were really shown love on the visit and it felt like home. USF is a school with great opportunity for me to come in right away as a freshman and make an big impact. Finally, they are also a winning program, and I look forward to punching our ticket to March Madness.”
Smiley — the 6-foot-5, 175-pound shooting guard out of Link Academy — is one of the best shooters in the 2025 class. He was a key piece in Link Academy’s run to the EYBL Scholastic Tournament championship and the No. 2 overall seed at Chipotle Nationals.
In his most recent action, Smiley scored a team-high 14 points and made four 3-pointers, but Link Academy fell short to Drive Nation, 74-55, in the quarterfinals. Smiley really made a name for himself this past summer throughout his entire EYBL campaign with the NW Rotary Rebels. At Peach Jam he finished second among all scorers at 22.4 points per game while shooting 44.9% from the field and 21-of-68 (30.9%) from deep.
“Legend is an elite scorer and shooter,” Link Academy coach Chad Myers told ZAGSBLOG. “He can play on and off the ball and score in bunches. He is also a good athlete and defender. I think Legend will have a chance to make an immediate impact right away.”
The Seattle native is ranked the No. 176 prospect in the 2025 class by 247Sports. One coach at Link Academy said Smiley is the best shooter he’s seen at his age.
