Texas softball has another road SEC series changed due to bad weather
AUSTIN (KXAN) — No. 1 Texas and Missouri tried to beat inclement weather and move Friday's opening game up eight hours to 10 a.m., but Mother Nature didn't want them to play ball in Columbia, Missouri.
The Longhorns and Tigers will now play a Saturday doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. to kick off the Southeastern Conference series. The first game will stream on SEC Network+, and the second game, scheduled for 5 p.m., will air on SEC Network. The series concludes at noon Sunday and the game will air on ESPN2.
All three of Texas' road SEC series have been adjusted to include doubleheaders due to bad weather. The Longhorns are 34-3 overall, 7-2 in the SEC, and the Tigers are 20-18 with a 2-7 SEC record.
Texas enters the weekend leading the SEC in a handful of offensive categories including batting average (.383), runs scored (312), hits (367) and RBIs (296). They are tied with Tennessee for the SEC lead in triples with 14. Sophomore catcher Reese Atwood leads the SEC in OPS (1.452) and is tied with three others for the league lead in home runs with 13. Katie Stewart and Florida's Taylor Shumaker are tied with 56 RBIs.
