Mohawk Hudson Humane Society holds fundraiser for Lavender the dog
MENANDS, N.Y. (NEWS10)-- The Mohawk Hudson Humane Society is raising money for Lavender, a stray dog found abused in Schenectady. The money will be used for treatment, and towards the Animal Cruelty Fund.
Schenectady Police Department Animal Control arrived at a city home Sunday afternoon for a found dog and met Lavender, who was named by the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society. She had wounds to her face and ears, one ear looking like it was intentionally cut off. Police said she also had fractured teeth.
Since the dog has been found, the humane society has been caring for the dog. According to the shelter, Lavender has been friendly, gentle, and they will continue to provide care for her.
The shelter said Lavender is receiving treatment for her ear and facial infections, as well as for her dental damage and scars. The Schenectady Police Department and humane society law officers are looking for any information around the abuse and are asking those with information to call (518) 382-5245 or the tips line at (518) 788-6566.
To donate to the shelter to help with medical expenses and to the Animal Cruelty Fund, visit the shelter's website or call (518) 434-8128.
