Waterfront restaurant in Kingston to reopen with new name, menu
KINGSTON, N.Y. (NEWS10)-- In November 2024, the Ole Savannah Restaurant announced a transformation project with a complete remodel and rebranding of the business. On Easter, April 20, the waterfront restaurant will reopen to the public as The Cornell for the first brunch and dinner.
The Cornell, named after the Cornell Steamboat Company and repair shop, which the building was once a part of, will feature a new menu focused on merging classic Ole Savannah comfort dishes with global flavors to create a new dining experience for Kingston.
"We evolved from southern dishes to now a global fusion," Amato said. "We will be offering Asian dishes, sushi, Italian pastas, steaks, seafood, just highlighting foods and flavors from around the world."
Amato has joined forces with Jessica Mino, a key figure in opening Amato's second restaurant, Brickman Kitchen and Bar, and executive chef Anthony Colon, for the rebranding. Similar to honoring the brick industry in the Brickman, the Cornell will honor Kingston's maritime history and the steamboat company with a remodeled interior.
According to Amato, everything but the brick structure will be brand new. Amato partnered with the Jackson Creative Group to create a new atmosphere within the restaurant.
Changes include a relocated bar, new bathrooms, new tables and chairs, new lighting and layout. However, the views of the Hudson River and outdoor seating will remain the same.
"I hope to give Hudson Valley diners an experience and ambiance that is second to none," Amato said. "I look forward to sharing what we created with the community; I'm fortunate to be surrounded by the best team there is."
According to Amato, the business will reopen as early as April 15. After the grand opening, the business will be open Monday through Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. and on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., with the bar staying open a bit later.
