9 injured when car crashes into bus stop in Queens: NYPD
QUEENS, N.Y. (PIX11) – At least nine people were injured when a car crashed into a bus shelter in Queens on Thursday, according to the NYPD.
Police said it happened near Lefferts Boulevard and Liberty Avenue around 7 p.m. A 79-year-old woman, driving a gold Ford Explorer, was making a left onto Liberty Avenue when she veered to try to avoid crashing into a bus, according to authorities.
Police said four pedestrians, an 18-year-old woman, a 66-year-old woman, a 66-year-old woman and a 78-year-old woman were all injured when the car careened into the bus shelter. Two people on the bus, a 34-year-old man and a 38-year-old man, were also hurt, according to authorities.
The occupants of the Ford Explorer – the 79-year-old driver, a 78-year-old woman and a 69-year-old woman – were injured as well, police said.
All of the victims' injuries are minor, according to authorities. No arrests have been made and an investigation into the crash is ongoing.
